I really enjoy shooting star trail photos. You can really be artistic when the shutter is open for hours. In the northern hemisphere we are lucky to have a bright star directly above our pole. The North Star, which is in the center of the circle, gives me a target to point the camera in order to get that perfect circle that the rotation of the Earth creates. With my hours of time I "painted" a dead tree with colored light to give it a little more interest. The distant horizon outlines the sometimes otherworldly petrified sandstone rock formations of Moab, Utah.,
