Sacred Circle

Canyonlands National Park near Moab, Utah.

The spectacular view from here had to be a major reason ancient people built at this location. This amazing sunset image of Sacred Circle was taken in the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands National Park near Moab, Utah. At this site you would see ancient hand prints and other petroglyphs on the walls and a boulder used to grind seeds or corn. The alcove that houses the Sacred Circle is in the side of the cliff that faces southwest toward the white rim area above the Green River. Sacred Circle isn't marked on signs or maps but you can stop by the gallery to view a limited edition 30x30 framed print.
