This image was captured on film using a Hasselblad camera, hence the square format. Gary held his breath as he exposed the columbines to the film. Any movement, especially that of wind would have led to an image that is not sharp. Due to the long exposure time and still environment, these columbines can be enjoyed at any size as the detail of each flower comes to life.
