Rustlers Rainbow
Crested Butte, Colorado
This is a unique rainbow seen above Rustlers Gulch in Crested Butte, CO also known as Supernumerary Rainbow. Supernumeraries are created by small, almost same sized raindrops. The effect becomes apparent when the water droplets involved have a diameter of about 1 mm or less; the smaller the droplets are, the broader the supernumerary bands become, and the less saturated their colors.
